One of our customers is a large vehicle resales platform based in the Netherlands, which acts as a middle man between private customers and auto garages. They offer a car resales service that simplifies the process of selling used cars. The company offers a straightforward and transparent platform where individuals can quickly obtain an offer for their vehicle. For this customer we have created an entire web-based CRM application to encapsulate all of their processes.
The primary process broadly involves the private individual submitting their license plate and potentially their desired sales price. Based on the license plate, the make and model of the vehicle can be determined. Subsequently, an account manager is tasked with contacting the individual to determine the desired price if none was given, along with the specifics of the vehicle, such as features, options, and any damages. The vehicle, complete with photos, is then listed for auction to registered vehicle garages, allowing them to bid for purchase. The garage with the highest offer wins, and the platform receives a commission for facilitating the transaction.
With a growing history of vehicle sales, bid data, and garage activity, there is an opportunity to estimate which garages are likely to be interested in specific vehicles or particular types and price ranges. Since multiple platforms may list the same vehicles, being able to proactively notify or engage garages most likely to bid can improve the platform’s speed in closing sales and increasing its commission opportunities.
For this assignment, you are tasked with developing a garage classification and recommendation solution. Using historical data on previous bids, sales, and garage behavior, you will analyze and classify garages by the types and price ranges of vehicles they typically engage with. Your solution should be able to recommend, for each new listing, which garages are most likely to place a bid. The resulting tool will be designed for integration into the existing CRM application, supporting the platform in facilitating faster and more successful vehicle sales.
